Action Learning Programs
Action learning programs developed with your organisation by New Futures provide an arena in which participants can practise leadership, learn more about themselves and their impact on others, and make a substantial contribution to achieving worthwhile business outcomes at the same time.
Our action learning programs commonly run in parallel with a series of skill and awareness-building workshops, enabling managers to balance action and reflection upon that action. Participants work in syndicate groups on projects nominated as important by the organisation or which the groups themselves initiate, within agreed parameters. Often with the assistance of an internal senior executive coach, the groups practise tools they have been introduced to in the workshops and try out new ways of tackling issues and interacting with others.
Action learning is at the same time a very powerful and a rather subtle process. We can work with your organisation to help you capitalize on the opportunities action learning provides, while avoiding the pitfalls. We can also assist and support your senior executives in providing coaching and mentoring to action learning groups and their members.
Our experience is that, almost invariably, our action learning programs demonstrate the capabilities of participants in ways that surprise and delight executive sponsors. The participants themselves value the experience both for its practical significance and for the insights it gives them about how they can more effectively work with others outside their day-to-day business context.
The organisation gains, apart from developing its people and improving relationships, through achieving significant - and possibly breakthrough - progress on important business issues. To view an action learning case study, click here.
